In 2019, Gravity Water and students at Piedmont High School teamed up to spread awareness of the Global Water Crisis and do something about it. The goal of the campaign is to fund an entire Gravity Water system, bring an on-site, permanent, and energy-free source of safe drinking water to a school in need.
Help us reach our goal of providing the 170 students and staff of Nepal Charter Prathamik School with an on-site clean water system for daily drinking and hand washing.

OUR SISTER SCHOOL: NEPAL CHARTER PRATHAMIK SCHOOL
Kathmandu, Nepal
Kathmandu, Nepal
Students at Piedmont High School decided to chose Nepal Charter Prathamik School, located in the Kathmandu valley of Nepal, as their benefiting sister school.
Currently, Nepal Charter Prathamik School lacks access to a reliable source of on-site water; this includes water to cook with and water for drinking. Though the school has a few water tanks on their roof, they remain empty for most of the year. The main way the school accesses water is by using a make-shift gutter and pipe that directs rainwater into one of their 1,000 liter tanks, which the school easily uses within a few days.
Without access to a safe and reliable source of water for hand-washing, let alone drinking, students at this school are at great risk of contracting and spreading illness, especially COVID-19. Gravity Water and Piedmont High School are working together to bring a 10,000-liter Gravity Water system to the school, which will provide them with a free, reliable, and daily source of safe water that is on-site and meets U.S. EPA-rated standards. In addition, Gravity Water is aiming at providing a year-round supply of hand soap to all students in response of the COVID-19 pandemic. $8 = Provides one child with safe drinking water.
$5 = Provides one child with a year-round supply of hand soap for school and home. |

2019 Clean Water Campaign
Piedmont High School’s 2019 Campaign brought clean drinking water to Madan Bhandari Memorial School, a school located in Besigaun of Gokarneshwor Municipality of Nepal. Without access to fresh water, Madan Bhandari Memorial School was dependent on a government tap (a network of pipes delivering contaminated river or spring water to the community); or a private underground bore (drilled well). Both sources suffer from poor quality in the wet season as surface waters are contaminated by runoff, while in summer and dry season, the quantity of water is insufficient. Year round, the bore quality is poor due to groundwater contamination.
Through support from the 2021 Los Gatos High School fundraiser Campaign, Gravity Water worked with the Madan Bhandari Memorial School and the Besigaun Community to install a rainwater harvesting system, which is providing the entire school of 500 students with a daily source of safe drinking water.
