A Focus on Schools.
Over 2 billion people rely on a contaminated water source every day. Gravity Water is challenging the Global Water Crisis by targeting schools that lack access to safe drinking water, which is one of the highest-risk areas for contracting waterborne diseases for many children around the world.

🇳🇵 Nepal
Shree Jorpati Secondary School
Panchkhal Municipality, Nepal Shree Jorpati Secondary School is located in Tinpiple village in Panchkhal Municipality, in the Kavrepalanchowk District of Nepal, which is part of the Bagmati Province of Central Nepal. This is a very rural region of Nepal, which is only accessible by dirt roads that climb into the mountain ranges that sit at the base of the Himalayas. This region is situated in the mid hill region where water supply is very scarce; most of the community depend on intermittent pumped water from wells in the area.
Though most households boil water at home before drinking, Shree Jorpati Secondary School, and the majority of schools in the region, can't afford to boil water for their 300 students every day, due to the cost of fuel. Without a way to filter or boil the water, students are dependent on drinking unfiltered groundwater at school, where they risk water-related illnesses from parasites and bacteria, especially during the rainy season. Funding for this project will go towards installing a Gravity Water system at the school, which will provide the school with the ability to harvest and store rainwater and filter both rainwater and groundwater, completely energy-free. As a result, all students and staff at Shree Jorpati Secondary School will have access to a daily source of safe, filtered, on-demand drinking water, free of charge that they can depend on throughout the future. |
🇻🇳 Vietnam
Dền Sáng Primary and Secondary School
Bát Xát District, Vietnam Dền Sáng Primary and Secondary School is located in Bát Xát District of Lao Cai Province in Northwest Vietnam. It is about 50 km from the town up a very bumpy road through the mountains. Bát Xát District has approximately 82,000 people, containing 14 ethnic groups with very diverse cultures.
Lao Cai Province is one of the two poorest provinces in Vietnam, with nearly 70% of people living below the poverty line. The community of Bát Xát relies heavily on subsistence farming and forestry which has led to deforestation of wide areas in the region. Currently, there are 452 students attending Dền Sáng Primary and Secondary School. Due to the difficulty in traveling through the mountainous, rural surroundings, most of the students live at the school from Monday to Friday. Like most areas in Vietnam, the village of Bat Xat lacks access to safe water for drinking and hygiene use. Most of the water that is used in the region comes from springs that settle in a collection area. Much of the water is contaminated and is especially unsafe to use during the rainy season when there is a lot of runoff from the hillsides. Funding for this project will go towards installing a Gravity Water system at the school, which will provide the school with the ability to harvest and store rainwater and filter both rainwater and spring water, completely energy-free. As a result, all students and staff at Dền Sáng Primary and Secondary Schoo;l will have access to a daily source of safe, filtered, on-demand drinking water, free of charge that they can depend on throughout the future. |
